Drive-thru only Chick-fil-A set to open in Riverside

A new fast food restaurant in Riverside will be operating with a novel concept: no indoor seating.

Chick-fil-A at 6299 Van Buren Blvd. is set to open Thursday, catering to drive-thru, carry-out and delivery customers, but indoor dining will not be on the menu.

Gone are the days of going inside, waiting for your number to be called and then dining on your meal from the confines of the restaurant walls — at least at this restaurant. You can, however, eat at the outdoor seating area.

The franchise owner-operator and the nation’s most popular fast food chain said the new restaurant is “designed for speed and efficiency.”

The company says the new location will bring around 120 jobs, both part-time and full-time, to the community.

As part of its grand opening, the restaurant will be recognizing 100 “local heroes” in the Riverside area, providing them with free Chick-fil-A entrées for a year. Chick-fil-A, Inc. has also donated $25,000 to Feeding America in honor of the new restaurant.
