KNX News’ Karen Adams reports that people in the El Carrizo village barely escaped as the fire moved in on them along the Ortega highway.

She spoke with one resident, who says she saw her home of one year burning down on the news.

“[I had] my own place. Good rent, good landlord, and it’s all gone. I have nothing; everything is gone,” she said.

Shane Reichardt with the Riverside County Emergency Management Department said, “The evacuations of Riverside County are fairly large swaths going from Tamas Valley all the way to the San Diego County border, and it is along the foothills of the Santa Ana Mountains.”

He urges anyone in the area to use the Genesis Protect App, where residents can enter their address and see they live in an evacuated zone.
