Heatwave returns to High Desert, Southern California

An excessive heat warning remains in effect until Thursday night as high temperatures continue to scorch parts of Southern California. Meanwhile, Palms Spring broke a decades-old heat record Tuesday.

The National Weather Service’s heat warning on Monday includes San Bernardino and Riverside counties, with high temperatures from 99 to 108 expected in places like Rancho Cucamonga, Fontana, Riverside, and San Bernardino.

A few degrees of cooling are possible Thursday and Friday, but temps will remain well above average through the upcoming weekend, according to the weather service.

The heatwave in these areas could stretch through Sunday, according to the long-range forecast.

The South Coast Air Quality Management’s wildfire smoke advisory, from the Line Fire in the San Bernardino Mountains, has been extended through Wednesday, Oct. 2.

High Desert

High Desert municipalities, such as Adelanto, Barstow, Hesperia and Victorville, will experience high temps from 99 to 104 through Thursday.
