Saige Davis grew up watching her father Randy play shows in downtown Huntington Beach. Now the UC Irvine graduate is launching her own career in music, having released three singles, including “Somewhere Country,” which has more than 80,000 streams on Spotify.
When everyone was on lockdown, my dad asked me to help him write a song. I started helping him and I was like, oh, you know, this is kind of fun. I wonder if I can write one on my own.
I just released my third single, “Open Road,” in July. I feel like this is really the first song that really showcases who I am as a songwriter.
I feel like with “Open Road” and more songs that I’m working on right now, I’m kind of diving into a more raw style of production. It can really capture the songwriting with a lot of on-scene instrumentation.
My influences include women legends like Joni Mitchell and Dolly Parton, who really hone their lyrics, songwriting, and artistry. Noah Kahan, Kacey Musgraves, and Zach Bryan are big inspirations for me sound-wise.
