Driver Killed in Rear-End Crash Into Stopped Tow Truck on 60 Freeway in Ontario

ONTARIO, Calif., Nov. 1 (KNN) — A vehicle slammed into the rear-end of a tow truck on the shoulder of the 60 Freeway in Ontario overnight, leaving the driver dead at the scene.

The California Highway Patrol received a 911 call around midnight regarding a traffic collision involving a tow truck on the eastbound 60 Freeway just before Vineyard Avenue.

Once officers and firefighters arrived, they located a vehicle that rear-ended a tow truck on the right shoulder, loading a stalled vehicle.

The driver that struck the tow truck was killed on impact, per firefighters at the scene.

The driver of the tow truck was transported to a local hospital with a possible broken leg. It is unknown at this time if the driver of the vehicle getting towed was at the scene when the crash occurred.

CHP had the number three and four lanes closed as they investigated the fatal crash.
