The National Weather Service in Las Vegas has issued a weather alert as a new system moves into the western United States this weekend, bringing increased winds, potential light rain showers, and light snowfall in higher elevations. Starting Saturday, westerly and southwesterly winds are expected to pick up across western San Bernardino and parts of Mohave County, with gusts reaching 30 to 35 mph. However, stronger winds will develop later, particularly from Saturday night into Sunday, as a cold front sweeps through the southern Great Basin, with gusts potentially hitting 40 to 50 mph across Southern Nevada and the Colorado River Valley.
While rain and snow showers are possible, precipitation amounts may be less than initially anticipated. The Sierra region is expected to receive 2 to 5 inches of snow, while the Spring Mountains could see up to 2 to 4 inches.
