Whittier, CA – According to a new list from Thrillist, Turnbull Canyon, located in the Puente Hills near Whittier, has earned the title of the most haunted place in California. Known for its eerie history and unsettling legends, this canyon’s sinister reputation includes a 1950s plane crash that tragically killed 29 people. For those brave enough to explore, the canyon offers a 4-mile hiking trail with sweeping views—along with ghostly sightings.

Thrillist notes that Turnbull Canyon is steeped in tales of paranormal activity, including stories of spirits linked to a nearby orphanage and a mysterious, burnt-down asylum.
