CHP Stops Wrong-Way Driver by Crashing Into Vehicle on 10 Freeway in Pomona

POMONA, Calif., Nov. 7 (KNN) — California Highway Patrol officers stopped a wrong-way driver by sideswiping the vehicle on the 10 Freeway early Thursday morning.

CHP officers from the Rancho Cucamonga and Baldwin Park Area offices observed a wrong-way driver traveling westbound in eastbound lanes to the 10 Freeway in the city of Ontario shortly after 2:30 a.m.

Multiple CHP officers from the Baldwin Park Area office were able to get into position and sideswipe the wrong-way driver, causing the vehicle to spin and come to a stop on the eastbound 10 Freeway at the 57 Freeway in the city of Pomona. The wrong-way driver struck an innocent motorist traveling to work on the eastbound 10 Freeway when it was going the wrong way.

The two officers who stopped the wrong-way driver were able to exit the patrol unit and take the suspect into custody. CHP officers also checked on the innocent driver, who was struck but was not hurt. The two officers were assessed by firefighters at the scene but not transported to a hospital.
