Palm Desert Man Charged with Felony Evading and Weapon Possession After High-Speed Chase and Standoff

Earlier this week, chaos erupted on the streets of Indian Wells when a motorcycle deputy attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle clocked at excessive speeds. According to The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the deputy initiated the stop at around 5:26 a.m., at the intersection of Fred Waring Drive and Cook Street. The driver, however, had other plans and took off, leading the deputy on a high-speed pursuit that reached nearly 100 mph, eventually entering the wrong way on Fred Waring Drive at Portola Avenue.
