Holiday week weather: Sunny and warm in desert, rain expected in Inland Empire

Clear skies and warm temperatures are expected in the Coachella Valley this holiday week, while drivers passing through the western Inland Empire might come across some rainy conditions.

In the Palm Springs area, mostly sunny conditions are in the forecast Monday through Wednesday, with highs around 76 degrees and calm winds around 5 mph. Evening temperatures are expected to be around 60 degrees with partly cloudy skies.

In western Riverside County, cloudy skies and chances of rain are predicted in the beginning half of the week, according to the National Weather Service.

“At least a tenth of an inch of rain is expected to accumulate for Orange County, the Inland Empire, San Bernardino county mountains and portions of the high desert between Monday and Wednesday morning,” the NWS told City News Service.

Winds are expected to be the strongest over the mountains into the deserts with peak gusts around 35 to 45 mph from Tuesday night into Wednesday.
