An Orange County based robbery crew was taken into custody after Good Samaritans in San Bernardino County intervened to help an elderly female victim, officials announced Monday.
The terrifying ordeal unfolded on Dec. 5 when two women and one man approached the woman in 10000 block of Foothill Boulevard in Rancho Cucamonga and attempted to steal the jewelry she was wearing, including a necklace she was wearing around her neck.
Deputies with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department responded to the area at around 10:25 a.m. on reports of the attempted robbery and learned that the trio fled in a waiting vehicle.
The robbery crew’s vehicle was spotted approximately two miles away at Foothill Boulevard and Milliken Avenue and the three suspects, identified as Maria Caldarau, 30, Miheala Gardian, 35, and Ovidiu Alexandri Stan, 33, all residents of Fullerton, were taken into custody.
Caldarau and Stan were found to have warrants for their arrest in other counties for robbery, theft from elderly and grand theft from a person, a SBSD news release detailed.
