4-year-old lone survivor of quadruple fatal crash in Southern California

A 4-year-old boy was hospitalized for major injuries from a fatal car crash in San Bernardino County on Sunday afternoon, officials confirmed to KTLA.

Preliminary reports from the California Highway Patrol show that the child happened to be the lone survivor of the single-vehicle crash that killed the other four occupants.

CHP dispatch reported the crash at around 4:46 p.m., noting that an ambulance was already en route to the area of eastbound Interstate 10 and east of Riverside Avenue in the city of Colton.

An investigating officer said they found that the car, a 2018 Toyota Corolla, was traveling east when it left the roadway onto the right shoulder and collided with a tree stump.

Officers responded to the scene and were purportedly unable to identify the four people who died. The 4-year-old was transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for major injuries.

CHP later only identified the four victims as two 60-year-olds, one male one female, and two 30-year-olds, also one male and one female.
