Two people were injured when they were hit by a car in the parking lot of a shopping center in Perris, according to firefighters.
The crash happened at around 2:30 p.m. in the 3100 block of Case Road, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
Crews arrived and found one of the two pedestrians was trapped under a car. They extricated the person and rushed them to a nearby hospital with moderate to major injuries. The second victim suffered minor injuries and declined further treatment.
Investigators are still working to determine what caused the crash, which also saw the vehicle crash into multiple parked cars in the parking lot, firefighters said.
Riverside County Sheriff’s Office deputies tell KCAL News that the victims were a father and son, though they did not say which of the two required hospitalization.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with their investigation, deputies said. They did not believe that drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
