The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department seized a cache of firearms when deputies found a stolen recreational vehicle in Palm Desert on Monday afternoon.
Deputies located the stolen RV in the 74000 block of Leslie Avenue just before 4 p.m. and took 37-year-old Shayne Hiemstra of Palm Desert into custody, the RCSD said in a news release.
“During the investigation, a search warrant was served at the location, which led to the discovery of illegal firearms, narcotics, and 3D printers,” the release said. “Deputies also located an unsecured loaded firearm in a bedroom belonging to a juvenile.”

An image shared by the department shows at least eight handguns, five partial handguns, six long guns, multiple boxes of ammunition and and five pipes.
Hiemstra is facing eight felony charges, including vehicle theft, child endangerment, and drug and gun charges.
He is being held at the John Benoit Detention Center in lieu of $35,000 bail, and he’s due to appear at the Indio Larson Justice Center on Thursday.
