CHINO HILLS, CA — A traffic stop in Chino Hills on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, resulted in the arrest of a Downey man for felony drug possession under Proposition 36, a recently enacted California law addressing homelessness, drug addiction, and theft-related offenses.
Deputies from the Chino Hills Sheriff’s Station conducted a traffic enforcement stop on Butterfield Ranch Road near Pine Avenue, where they identified the driver as 49-year-old Eduardo Sillas. A records check revealed Sillas had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. During a search of his vehicle, deputies discovered drug paraphernalia and suspected methamphetamine.
Sillas, who has multiple prior drug possession convictions in California, was taken into custody and booked at the West Valley Detention Center.
