In Lake Matthews, a suspenseful confrontation between a suspected intruder and a homeowner resulted in a fatality late Thursday night. According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to an emergency call from the 16000 block of Hidden Peak Lane at approximately 11:03 p.m. after being alerted of a suspicious person attempting to break into a residence.
During the incident, the homeowner, who was armed, fired upon the suspect after he forced entry into the home. Despite the homeowner’s aggressive response to the break-in, the suspect succumbed to gunshot injuries. Following the shooting, paramedics pronounced the suspect dead at the scene.
