Riverside police deploy new drones in illegal Fourth of July firework crackdown

Riverside Police will be using new, high-tech drones to heighten its illegal fireworks enforcement this Fourth of July.

The drones, equipped with night vision, flare technology and 200x zoom capability, can detect people lighting pyrotechnics during the day or night with a heat indicator, according to the Riverside Police Department.

“If we receive a complaint, we can mark a location on the map on our drone and respond exactly to that location, and start recording or taking whatever evidence we need of the incident,” Det. Cole Tuggle said…
