Driver Killed After Slamming into Back of Semi-Trailer

1. On July 16th, 2025, just before midnight, CHP, Riverside City Fire, and AMR responded to a reported traffic collision on the Westbound 91 Freeway at La Sierra Avenue in Riverside.
2. Riverside City Fire arrived at the scene and located a small sedan that had crashed into the rear of a semi-trailer and was wedged more than halfway under.
3. Firefighters requested a truck for extrication, but it was canceled.
4. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.
5. It’s unknown if there were additional victims inside the vehicle.
6. The semi driver was uninjured and stated that he was stopped on the right-hand shoulder of the freeway to fix lights and was rear-ended.
