There won’t be a civilian panel to oversee operations at the Riverside County Sheriffs Dept. There won’t be an inspector general either.
The County Board of Supervisors voted against those ideas Tuesday.
And of course, in the world of government, there are always discussions about task forces, blue ribbon panels, and in this case, there was a suggestion to form an ad hoc committee to do further study on the issue of whether a civilian oversight board or inspector general are even needed, to eavesdrop on how the Sheriffs Dept goes about its work, but the ad hoc study committee idea bit the dust at the Supervisors meeting as well…
