California braces for triple-digit temperatures as residents warned of dangerous illness

The Inland Empire region of Southern California is bracing for scorching triple-digit temperatures through Friday, triggering a heat advisory.

The National Weather Service issued an updated heat advisory Thursday that will remain in effect until Friday at 8 p.m. for San Bernardino and Riverside counties.

It comes after Central California dealt with extreme heat up to 118 degrees Fahrenheit that threatened to worsen ongoing wildfires while San Francisco suffered one of its coldest summers in more than 40 years.
