On a typical Tuesday afternoon, what was intended to be a simple transaction turned into a harrowing ordeal for one watch seller. At around 4:30 p.m. on August 5th, a victim met with what they believed would be a legitimate buyer for their Rolex watch at a Starbucks on Chino Avenue in Chino Hills. Instead, the seller was met with violence as two juveniles and an 18-year-old man allegedly restrained them and forcibly took both the watch and a cell phone.
According to a police report, deputies from the Chino Hills Sheriff’s Station were called to the scene and quickly launched an area search for the suspects. Their efforts culminated in a pursuit that ended at the Ontario Airport, where the trio’s escape was cut short in a FedEx area. After abandoning their car, the suspects were apprehended without further incident.
Jamier Cole, the 18-year-old resident of Barstow, and his two younger accomplices from Rialto were taken into custody. Cole was booked for robbery at the West Valley Detention Center, while the minors were held at the San Bernardino County Juvenile Hall.
