Plane goes missing, takes repeated joyrides, comes back with new parts

A mystery is afoot in California. 75-year-old Jason Hong told the Los Angeles Times that he rarely flies his beloved 1958 Cessna Skyhawk these days. Still, he went out to his hangar at Corona Municipal Airport to drop in on the single-engine plane on July 27th, which happened to be his birthday. That’s when he discovered the plane was missing.

Hong told the paper he was initially confused and briefly wondered if he parked it in the wrong place or if the airport manager moved it. But he scoured the area and couldn’t find it.

When Hong made inquiries, he heard that a mystery pilot had been seen flying the plane around Southern California on at least two different occasions. He contacted the police and filed a report, declaring the aircraft was missing…
