A Coachella Valley Unified School District teacher accused of inappropriately touching a student will face trial after a judge found sufficient evidence to proceed with the case.Mario Manuel Valenzuela, 42, of Coachella, was arrested in February following a months-long investigation by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. He is charged with lewd acts on a minor and annoying or molesting a minor under 18 years old.Superior Court Judge Otis Sterling made the ruling Thursday at the conclusion of a preliminary hearing. Valenzuela is scheduled for arraignment on September 11 at the Larson Justice Center in Indio. He remains free on $10,000 bond.Valenzuela worked in the special education department at Coachella Valley High School, according to staff directory information made public in 2024.
