Armed Alabama Man Arrested For Threatening Monastery In California

An Alabama man has been arrested in California after investigators say he sent threatening emails to an Orange county monastery and later showed up in person to make additional threats.

According to the Orange County Sheriffs Department, personnel were first contacted on Thursday, Aug. 28, after suspicious emails were sent to St. Michaels Abbey in Silverado Canyon. The messages, allegedly sent by 38-year-old Alabama resident Joshua Michael Richardson, were interpreted as threatening. Authorities said Richardson then traveled to the abbey and made further threats directly to a priest, who reported the incident to deputies.

Investigators and deputies quickly located Richardson. During the arrest, they searched his vehicle and discovered body armor, high-capacity magazines, brass knuckles, and knives. He was taken into custody without further incident and booked into the Orange County Jail on suspicion of making criminal threats. The sheriff’s department did not specify the nature of the threats…
