Evacuation orders issued as fast-moving wildfire burns in Riverside County

Evacuation orders have been issued as a fast-moving brush fire burns in Jurupa Valley Friday night.

The Pyrite Fire ignited around 5:20 p.m. near Pyrite Street and Granite Hills Drive, according to CAL FIRE. By 6:45 p.m., the blaze grew to 140 acres and by 8 p.m., it was 200 acres. At 11:30 p.m., it was mapped at 400 acres with 5 percent containment.

Evacuation orders were issued for zones JUR0017, JUR-0018, JUR-0019 and JUR0031 and an evacuation warning was issued for zones JUR-0034, JUR-0020 and JUR-0036. A map of the affected zones can be seen here.
