Riverside County Moves Forward with Cabazon Infrastructure Financing District

The Riverside County Board of Supervisors has approved a funding plan for a new tax district that will help pay for critical infrastructure improvements in Cabazon and surrounding areas. The Cabazon Enhanced Infrastructure Financing District, first authorized in May, cleared another hurdle with a 4-0 vote from the board. Officials say the district covers roughly 10,000 acres and 4,000 properties.Under the plan, 25 percent of all property tax growth in the district over the next 45 years will be set aside to fund projects. Those projects include flood control, improved road access, expanded water supply, and enhanced wildfire protection.County officials say the financing mechanism is designed to provide long-term stability for the community as it grows, while addressing infrastructure needs that otherwise might struggle for funding. The district still requires final approval from a state board, which is expected to make a decision by December.Explore: NBCPalmSprings.com, where we are…..
