Riverside County, CA — Fears of stepped-up federal immigration enforcement have led to the cancellation of two more Latino heritage events in the Inland Empire, adding to growing concerns among immigrant communities.

Coachella’s Fiestas Patrias Canceled
The city of Coachella announced the cancellation of its annual Fiestas Patrias event, which traditionally celebrates Mexican pride and independence at Las Flores Park. City spokesperson Risseth Lora said the decision was made “due to our community’s fears surrounding ICE activity in the area.”
The free celebration typically features live music, food trucks, games for children, and electronic bull-riding. As an alternative, Telemundo will broadcast “El Grito”, Mexico’s traditional independence cry, live from Fantasy Springs Resort Casino at 6 p.m. Sunday. Residents 18 and older are also welcome to attend in person.
Festival Monarca in Perris Called Off
