Prius collides with CHP car in Riverside County; motorist, officer hospitalized

A motorist and a California Highway Patrol officer were injured after a collision in Temecula on Sunday night, authorities say.

Per a CHP news release, the crash occurred around 8:15 p.m. on Temecula Parkway at La Paz Road.

“An officer from the Temecula Area office was driving a marked Ford Explorer patrol vehicle eastbound on Temecula Parkway approaching the intersection of La Paz Road at approximately 55 miles per hour,” the news release states. “A 66-year-old male driver [in] a Toyota Prius…was stopped in the left turn lane of westbound Temecula Parkway…the driver of the Toyota entered into the left turn lane, proceeding to make a left turn onto La Paz Road at approximately 10 miles per hour.”
