Riverside County Animal Services has expanded hours at its shelters, including the Coachella Valley Animal Campus, making it easier for families to adopt or reclaim pets. The new hours are Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and weekends from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Shelters remain closed on Mondays.Officials say the extended hours are designed to help working families and increase adoptions as shelters continue to operate at overcapacity, especially for dogs. To encourage more adoptions, Animal Services is also offering free dog and cat adoptions through October 15 as part of the Bissell Pet Foundation’s Empty the Shelters event.Meanwhile, the Palm Springs Animal Shelter is in urgent need of supplies.
