Residents of Blythe were subjected to an unnerving incident last week, but the swift action of local law enforcement has resulted in the arrest of a suspect connected to a robbery and assault. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department reported that deputies from the Colorado River Sheriff’s Station were called to the 800 block of West Chanslor Way in Blythe on September 30, after receiving a report of an assault around noon. Initially, the officers were unable to find any victims or signs of the reported crime.
However, it didn’t take long for the School Resource deputy to not only find but also identify two juveniles as victims of the earlier incident—one of whom had been assaulted and received treatment at a local hospital. The other was robbed in the same event. The suspect, 19-year-old Jaymien Solorio of Blythe, was already out on bail for another unrelated incident when he was accused of these new offenses. The following day, October 1, deputies managed to locate and detain Solorio around 11:28 a.m. on North Lovekin Boulevard with no pushback.
During his search, Solorio was found with items that tied him to the robbery, after which he was arrested. He now faces multiple charges, including robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats, possession of stolen property, and committing a felony while out on bail. The 19-year-old was booked into the Blythe Jail. As this is an ongoing investigation, law enforcement is holding back any additional information at this time, though they are open to tips that could aid in the case…
