Man to Stand Trial for Allegedly Shooting Pedestrian in Riverside Drive-by

A 27-year-old man accused of shooting at two pedestrians, wounding one, in a drive-by attack in downtown Riverside must stand trial for attempted murder and other charges, a judge ruled Monday.

Hector Alfonso Sanchez Torres of Home Gardens was arrested in March following an investigation by the Riverside Police Department.

At the conclusion of a preliminary hearing Monday, Riverside County Superior Court Judge Francisco Navarro found sufficient evidence to bind Torres over for trial on two counts of attempted murder, as well as one count of firing a gun from a moving vehicle, including sentence-enhancing gun and great bodily injury allegations…
