LA County Gas Prices Drop as Chevron Refinery Blast Raises Concerns

LOS ANGELES – The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped four-tenths of a cent to $4.724, the second consecutive decrease after four straight increases totaling 1.1 cents. The decline comes despite last week’s explosion at the Chevron refinery in El Segundo, which temporarily disrupted operations.

The average price is one-tenth of a cent more than one week ago, 4.8 cents higher than one month ago and 14 cents greater than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
