Desert Preschool Academy Clarifies Reporting of Hand, Foot, and Mouth Cases

Desert Preschool Academy has responded to concerns regarding the handling of hand, foot, and mouth cases at its Indio location. Earlier reports suggested that parents were not notified when students were diagnosed with the contagious illness. The preschool clarified that parents were informed through its Learning Genie app and that the Riverside County licensing authority, Community Care Licensing, was also notified.The clarification came after two sources, including a former employee, reported inconsistencies in communication. Desert Preschool Academy executives emphasized that the cases occurred at only one of their multiple Indio sites, which may have contributed to confusion among parents. The first case was reported on Friday, October 3, and a second case was confirmed the following Monday.
