Lieutenant Nathan Kaas of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office died in a tragic hunting accident in Southern Idaho on Sunday. According to officials, the 48-year-old was accidentally shot by a friend’s rifle while preparing to hunt mule deer in the Caribou-Targhee National Forest. The incident occurred shortly before 6 a.m. when the rifle discharged as it was being removed from its case in their vehicle. The bullet struck Kaas in the thigh, causing severe bleeding, and he died before paramedics could arrive, as reported by KTLA.
