A quiet Barstow neighborhood was rattled by gunfire late Saturday night resulting in a homicide that, as of the latest updates, had come full circle back to Apple Valley with the suspected shooter in custody. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department reports that deputies were summoned to the 28300 block of Old Highway 58 following reports of shots fired at 11:55 p.m. on October 11.
On arrival, deputies found 35-year-old Ontario resident Jesse Edward Murueta Cervantes with gunshot wounds in the backyard of a residence. Despite the quick response, Cervantes was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the Sheriff’s statement, investigators soon identified the suspect as 31-year-old Andrew Limon from Apple Valley.
The case swiftly moved as detectives learned that Limon, the ex-boyfriend of the reporting party, had fled after the shooting. In a twist of fate, Apple Valley deputies discovered Limon inside his vehicle on the same night, also suffering from a gunshot wound. It is currently believed that Limon sustained the injury during the fatal confrontation.
