Riverside University Health System – Public Health (RUHS – PH) has started the ‘Rallying Around Sisters’ campaign in Riverside County. The campaign aims to provide more community-based support for Black mothers. It began during Black Breastfeeding Week and uses social media, billboards, and cinema ads to reach Black families in the area.
RUHS – PH Director Kim Saruwatari said that community support is important for Black mothers. The campaign encourages collective care for Black mothers and babies during pregnancy and after birth.
The campaign is part of California’s Black Infant Health Program. It features images of local Black families and encourages participation in the Perinatal Equity Initiative (PEI) and the Black Infant Health (BIH) Program. Both programs offer culturally responsive care and support services…
