Managing general agent Delos Insurance Solutions said it will expand its wildfire coverage across five southern California counties, adding 265,000 homes to its portfolio following improvements to its proprietary risk modeling technology.
The expansion increases Delos’s total coverage footprint to about 2.5 million homes across Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego counties. The MGA said the move reflects greater confidence in its models, which use satellite imagery and wildfire science to identify properties that pose lower risk despite being in wildfire-prone regions.
Founded in 2017 by aerospace engineers, Delos aims to provide insurance to homeowners in areas where many traditional insurers have withdrawn due to wildfire exposure.
