Coachella Mayor Steve Hernandez Arrested on Felony Charges of Conflict of Interest and Perjury

Coachella Mayor Steve Hernandez was arrested Tuesday morning on felony charges following an investigation by the Riverside County District Attorney’s Public Integrity Unit.According to jail records and a city spokesperson, Hernandez, 42, was taken into custody on October 28, 2025, at 10:35 a.m. and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside. He faces five counts of conflict of interest—one of them a felony—and five felony counts of perjury. His bail was set at $112,500.City of Coachella spokesperson Risseth Lora confirmed the arrest, saying the city is fully cooperating with authorities.
