The semi driver who is accused of causing a chain-reaction crash that killed three people in Ontario last month is no longer facing allegations that he was under the influence of drugs at the time.
Jashanpreet Singh, a 21-year-old resident of Yuba City, is accused of crashing his speeding big rig into slowly moving vehicles on the 10 Freeway on Oct. 21, resulting in the deaths of three people.
At the time, officials said Singh, who is believed to be in the U.S. illegally, was under the influence of drugs, though the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office later said the DUI allegations were unfounded.
“Toxicology reports confirmed none of the substances tested were present in the defendant’s blood at the time the test was rendered,” prosecutors said. “However, the case remains a grossly negligent homicide, and we’ve filed an amended complaint to reflect the new findings.”…
