Riverside Sheriff’s Department Reveal New Details Into Councilmember Mark Carnevale’s Death

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department is disclosing new details about the death of Cathedral City Councilmember Mark Carnevale over the weekend. In an email statement sent to NBC Palm Springs Wednesday, the department said deputies responded at 6:47 p.m. Sunday, November 16, to a residence in Rancho Mirage “regarding an attempted suicide.” Despite life-saving efforts by deputies and paramedics, Carnevale was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Sheriff’s Coroner’s Bureau has assumed the investigation, which remains ongoing with no evidence of foul play.Carnevale, who served on the Cathedral City Council for more than a decade and held the position of mayor twice.
