Riverside County is receiving a major financial boost in its ongoing effort to crack down on drug-impaired driving. The Board of Supervisors has approved a 970,000-dollar grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, slightly higher than last year’s award. The money will continue funding the District Attorney’s specialized team dedicated to prosecuting drug-related DUI cases.The unit, made up of four prosecutors, handles these cases from the initial arrest through final sentencing. County officials say the focused approach has significantly changed outcomes.
