At Mesa View Middle School in Huntington Beach, 850 students worked together on an art project related to the Pacific Ocean and marine life. Author and artist Daniel Dancer led the Art for the Sky program, which resulted in a 130-foot aerial image of a humpback whale.
Before gathering on the field, students took part in environmental lessons focused on ocean habitat protection. The project included painting the field to outline the whale and arranging students by shirt color to create an image, which was photographed by a drone.
