Driver killed after car crashes into pole, bursts into flames in Riverside County

A driver was killed early Sunday morning after an all-electric vehicle crashed into a streetlight pole and burst into flames in Riverside County, authorities said.

The crash happened in the city of Menifee around 12:26 a.m., when officers responded to the area of Lindenberger Road and Scott Road after a witness reported seeing a vehicle collide with a pole and catch fire, according to the Menifee Police Department.

When officers arrived, they found a Mercedes-Benz fully engulfed in flames. The witness told investigators the vehicle had been traveling eastbound on Scott Road when it drifted toward the south side of the roadway near the intersection and struck the pole.
