Valley Center Community Planning Group Chairwoman Dori Rattray Friday morning spoke to the County Planning Commission, warning it against the proposed Socially Equitable Cannabis Ordinance.
She noted that on March 26, the VC group voted 11:1 to oppose the ordinance, which, will among others things, pave the way for cannabis retail sales in the backcountry. With top priority being giving to those who have previously run afoul of marijuana laws.
“While we acknowledge the spirit of promoting social equity, the near-unanimous opposition is based on deep-seated and specific community concern regarding land use, public health, and environmental risk that the current ordinance draft has failed to adequately mitigate. Particularly in the Valley Center community. This strong opposition is further validated by Supervisor Desmond’s recorded vote against this ordinance.”…
