Bystander video captured the harrowing moment a police officer was struck by a motorist in Orange County while chasing a suspect on foot across a busy intersection.
The ordeal, which left the officer severely injured, unfolded on Jan. 4 around 12:04 a.m. when Garden Grove Police responded to reports of an adult male suspect allegedly armed with a knife who was attempting to assault clerks at a 7-Eleven store at the intersection of Brookhurst Street and Sanford Avenue in Garden Grove.
Greg Snedden, who witnessed the incident, said the suspect, now identified as 34-year-old Lonnie Johnson, had been kicked out of a bar earlier, later turning up at the 7-Eleven store where he allegedly threatened the clerk…
