SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Powerful Santa Ana winds are sweeping through Southern California, with the National Weather Service issuing a High Wind Warning Sunday for the San Diego County mountains and a Wind Advisory for the the inland valleys.

The High Wind Warning is set to remain in effect until 1 p.m. Sunday, impacting areas including Pine Valley and Julian. East winds between 35 and 45 mph are possible with wind gusts up to 65 mph or greater at times, according to forecasters.
After 1 p.m., conditions in the mountains are expected to slightly improve, but a Wind Advisory will then be place until 2 p.m. on Monday, with sustained winds of 25 to 35 mph and gusts up to 55 mph.

Forecasters warn that the strong winds could knock down trees and powerlines, leading to possible power outages. Additionally, travel may be especially difficult for high-profile vehicles, and unsecured outdoor objects could be blown around. Residents are urged to watch for falling debris and use caution while driving.
Meanwhile a Wind Advisory is also in effect until 2 p.m. Monday for San Diego County’s valleys, including San Marcos, Santee, Escondido, La Mesa, El Cajon and Poway. In those areas, northeast winds of 15 to 30 mph are expected, with gusts up to 55 mph…
