One person was killed early Thursday after hitting a steel bridge support beam that was knocked loose in a collision with a big rig and fell onto the 10 Freeway in Ontario. The resulting investigation and damage to the bridge prompted an ongoing closure of the westbound lanes near the 15 Freeway.
The incident was reported at 3:19 a.m. when a big rig carrying heavy machinery struck the steel girders associated with the support structure for the 15 Freeway Express Lanes and Freight Corridor project above the 10 Freeway.
