Orange County, CA (January 18, 2026) – A fatal multi-vehicle accident occurred Saturday afternoon, January 17, on Interstate 5 northbound near the Aliso Creek Rest Area, according to the California Highway Patrol. The crash was reported around 2:30 p.m. and involved multiple vehicles traveling through the busy corridor. At least one person was pronounced dead as a result of the collision. CHP officers responded to the scene and found several vehicles with extensive damage, indicating a high-impact crash. One individual was declared deceased at the scene, while other involved motorists were evaluated for injuries. Some victims received on-site medical assistance, while others were transported to nearby hospitals for further evaluation and treatment.
