Two Men Arrested in Palm Desert Burglary Involving Unserialized Firearms

Two men are in custody following an investigation into a burglary that led to the recovery of unserialized firearms, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.Deputies identified the suspects as Johnny Schoonover, a resident of Banning, and Joshua Wittes, a resident of Beaumont. Authorities say both men were arrested in connection with the theft and possession of firearms that did not have serial numbers.The investigation began on December 22 after the Sheriff’s Department received a report of a burglary in the area of Joni Drive in Palm Desert. Investigators say multiple items were stolen during the burglary, including firearms.Following the report, detectives tracked the suspects to locations in Beaumont and Banning.
