Crash Involving Semis, Fuel Spill Snarls I-10 Eastbound Near Whitewater

A crash involving multiple commercial vehicles and at least one passenger car has caused significant delays on Interstate 10 eastbound near Whitewater since early Tuesday morning.The collision happened around 2 a.m. just west of the Whitewater off-ramp, according to California Highway Patrol logs. The crash began when a semi-truck was rear-ended, with a Subaru and another semi ending up in the center divider. CHP indicated other vehicles may have also been involved.One of the semi-trucks began leaking fuel, prompting a hazmat response. CalFire, Caltrans, Riverside County Health, and the state Office of Emergency Services were all called for assistance according to the logs.At least one person reported injuries, described in the report as being “in pain” with a bloody nose. The extent of injuries and how many people were hurt was not disclosed.A SIG Alert was issued around 6 a.m. as crews worked to clear the scene.
